Misleading Invoices

Misleading Invoices

IP right owners often receive requests for payment for unnecessary or unwanted services from companies whose main purpose is to mislead or deceive by requests for payment which appear to come directly from IP Offices or official organisations.

Avoid Misleading Payment Requests

Don't pay until you have checked that the source is official.

The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) never sends invoices or letters requesting direct payment for services.

A searchable list of the firms or unofficial registers that users have complained of as having sent misleading invoices is published on the web site of the EUIPO which can be accessed using the link below.  These services are not connected with any official trade mark or design registration service provided by public bodies within the European Union.

If you receive an unsolicited invoice, it may be a scam.
